Post Name: Trades Assistant – Sawshop (x1)

We are seeking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated and dynamic individual(s) for the following position of Trades Assistant-Sawshop (x1).

Responsibilities:

This will involve:

• Assist in grinding and sharpening of saws and knives.
• Assisting the Saw doctors in carrying out examination on saws for faults and recommend measures for rectification.
• Proper changing of saws and knives.
• Maintenance and repairing of saws and cutting tools for safe operations.
• Able to efficiently carry out replacement of saw blades and knives.
• Effectively conducting welding on tools and saws.
• Ensure to provide daily checks update to superiors in order to complete relevant documentation.
• Ensure to carryout housekeeping, maintain OHS as per standards and adhere to company policy and procedures at all times.
• Carry out duties as per the operating manual for computer controlled tools and equipment.
• Carry out any other duties within the scope of the position or as assigned by the immediate supervisor or department head from time to time.

Qualification & Experience

The successful candidate must have the following prerequisites:

• Trade Certificate III in Saw Doctoring or relevant work experience in similar role.
• Experience in operating of saws especially quad and bandsaws.
• Knowledge and experience in Sawmilling industry. Basic welding skills will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of saw repair, sharpening and maintenance.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Positive attitude, disciplined with a good work ethic.
• Team player, highly motivated, proactive and innovative
