New World Cromwell, Otago, New Zealand is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to join the Produce Department in our friendly community supermarket in Cromwell.

Position Overview:

Assistant Fresh Produce (2IC) (Full time – Permanent)

Main focus of the position is to assist the Manager with the planning, organizing and control of the department within the store to ensure that it is run efficiently and profitably. The position will require stock ordering, promotional activities and presentation of produce, food safety management, workplace safety management and staff management.
Functional relationships will include Head Office Foodstuffs (South Island), all store management, Suppliers, Representatives, Customers, Contractors and Drivers.

Experience and requirements:

• Must be a NZ citizen or have permanent residency status.
• Proven leadership & organizational skills.
• Familiar with standards, concepts, practices and procedures within a fresh produce department.
• Ability to work under pressure
• Applicant must be computer literate with efficiency on MS Office & Outlook
• Sound accounting and mathematical skills required
• Must have a good command of English, both verbal and written skills. Training will be provided in English.
• Extended working hours will be required from time to time.
• The working week will include some work over the week end.
• The position requires a person that can manage heavy lifting and stacking in the chillers as well as handling heavy loads using a pallet jack.
• Demonstrate sound work ethic
• Ongoing training will be provided
