Milk Supply Manager Job Vacancy at Mataura Valley Milk, Southland New Zealand

Post Name: Milk Supply Manager

Reporting to the MVM CEO, you will be responsible for leading the relationship and engagement of local supplying farmers and grow an a2MC certified A1 protein free milk supply for MVM. As a relationship manager, you will provide the fundamental link between local farmers and our business, manage the commercial aspects of our milk supply and provide strategic insight for future decision making.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Maintain regular contact with all supplying farmers and develop strong relationships with the farming community while representing our core values.
• Pro-actively encourage and support the uptake of best on-farm practices.
• Positively promote the dairy farming industry and the contribution in the Southland.
• Evaluate and encourage the latest agricultural sciences and sustainability initiatives.
• Monitor procedures and raw milk quality with farms in correlation with MVM driven programs and requirements, to ensure compliance.
• Aid farmers with closing out non-conformances and driving continuous improvement.
• Develop a winter milk supply.
• Assist in desktop and on-farm audits.
• Prepare written reports; contribute to newsletters and co-ordinate on-farm meetings and events.

Expected Experience

• Experience and passion for the dairy and agricultural industry.
• Ability to build relationships and work closely with a variety of stakeholders.
• A sound understanding of the wider global dairy industry and the impact this has on business decisions.
• Champion of farming best practice.
• Excellent communication skills to influence and drive outcomes.
• Independent and able to work autonomously – this role will be based in Gore and on the road in the Southland region.
• Big picture thinking and the ability to bring new ideas and improvements to the role.
• Computer literacy including a sound knowledge of Word and Excel and sound reporting capability.
